Helmholtz

You may be wondering what the small tube is on our Resonator Delete? The small tube is a Helmholtz Resonator. In an exhaust system, a Helmholtz resonator is a container of gas (usually air) with an open hole (neck or port) leading into it. The volume of air/gas in and near the open hole vibrates due to the ‘springiness’ of the air/gas inside.

A common example is an empty bottle: the air inside vibrates when you blow across the top of it!

What is Drone?

Drone is a point where the exhaust note resonates in the cabin, creating a noise that most drivers dislike; the decibels and frequency can vary slightly depending on the driver and the car. This is why we have created Anti Drone Resonator Deletes.

When removing the standard resonator, you are paying the difference between someone who wants to give you a pipe and throw it on the car, and a company that designed a product for a specific job, took the time to research, develop, and test to make the product the best it can be!

RPM PERFORMANCE Anti Drone Resonator Deletes have been designed to reduce the resonance rate throughout the rev range, specifically at cruising speed on UK roads (70 mph). This is because while sporty noise isn't bad for most drivers on a short journey, prolonged driving means you don't want the vehicle to resonate in the cabin.
